Specialized Treatment
Expert treatment for non-healing amputation sites, residual limb wounds, stump infections, and post-amputation complications. Debridement, NPWT, infection management, and wound closure for successful prosthetic fitting. Medicare Part B covered mobile wound care in Beverly Hills, Orange County, Los Angeles, and all Southern California.
Every amputation patient wants the same thing: to move forward with their life, regain independence, and start walking with a prosthetic. But there's one critical checkpoint you must pass first—complete wound healing at the amputation site. Until that site is fully healed and stable, prosthetic fitting cannot begin, rehabilitation is delayed, and your return to mobility is on hold.
Surgery is done. The surgeon closed the amputation site with sutures or staples. You're recovering from the procedure itself. This stage is behind you.
THIS IS WHERE MANY PATIENTS GET STUCK. Approximately 10-20% of amputations experience wound healing complications. The surgical site doesn't close properly, keeps breaking open, gets infected, or develops exposed bone. Until this heals completely and remains stable, you cannot progress to prosthetic fitting.
Wound Dehiscence
The incision opens partially or completely, exposing underlying tissue, muscle, or bone
Stump Infection
Bacterial infection causing redness, drainage, odor, fever—can spread to bone (osteomyelitis)
Poor Blood Flow
Inadequate circulation to the site (especially common in diabetes/vascular disease patients) prevents healing
Exposed Bone
Soft tissue fails to cover the bone, creating painful non-healing wound prone to infection
Tissue Necrosis (Death)
Black or dark tissue that died due to insufficient blood supply—must be removed before healing can occur
Reality Check: If you're reading this page, you're likely stuck at this gate. Every day the wound doesn't heal is another day you can't move forward with prosthetic fitting and rehabilitation.
A prosthetist evaluates your stump shape, size, and stability. They take measurements and create a socket mold. Custom prosthetic is manufactured. None of this can happen until wound is fully healed and stable.
Why prosthetics require complete healing: The prosthetic socket puts pressure on the stump. An unhealed wound would break open immediately, cause extreme pain, and lead to serious infection. The stump must be fully closed and strong enough to bear weight.
Learn to use your prosthetic. Practice standing, weight shifting, walking with assistance, then independent walking. Build strength and confidence. Can't begin until you have a prosthetic, which can't happen until wound heals.
Walking independently with your prosthetic. Returning to daily activities, work, hobbies. Regaining independence and quality of life. This is where you want to be—but the gate at Stage 2 must open first.
You're not alone—and it's not your fault. Amputation site healing complications are common because the conditions that led to the amputation often work against healing:
Many amputations result from diabetes or peripheral artery disease—the same conditions that impair wound healing. Poor blood flow to the area prevents tissue repair.
The remaining tissue at the amputation site may already be damaged from the disease process that necessitated the amputation. It's trying to heal when it's already weakened.
Pre-existing infection before surgery or post-surgical contamination prevents proper healing. Infection can lead to sepsis if not controlled aggressively.
Weight-bearing, movement, or friction (wheelchair transfers, positioning) creates tension on healing tissue, causing wound breakdown and dehiscence.
Steroids, chemotherapy, immunosuppressants, and even some blood pressure medications significantly slow the healing process by suppressing immune function.
Inadequate protein, vitamins (especially C and D), zinc, and calories deprive your body of the raw materials needed for tissue repair and new cell growth.
Every Week Adds Up
Delayed rehabilitation means prolonged wheelchair/crutch dependency, muscle atrophy, and lost opportunities to regain independence.
Risk of Revision Surgery
Severe complications may require higher-level amputation (removing more of the limb) or additional surgical procedures to address infection/necrosis.
Psychological Toll
Prolonged recovery affects mental health, hope, and motivation. Depression and anxiety are common when healing seems impossible.
Lost Independence
Can't drive, work, care for yourself, or participate in family activities. Dependence on caregivers creates frustration and loss of dignity.
Our entire focus is on achieving complete wound healing as quickly and safely as possible so you can move forward with prosthetic fitting. We use advanced regenerative treatments specifically designed for challenging amputation site wounds:
We assess blood flow (vascular status), infection presence, tissue viability, bone exposure, and all factors preventing healing. Identify the exact obstacles blocking your progress.
Advanced antimicrobial dressings, targeted antibiotic therapy based on wound cultures, biofilm disruption. Eliminate infection that's preventing closure.
Remove all dead, infected, or non-viable tissue that's preventing healing. Convert a contaminated wound into a clean base that can close. May require multiple sessions.
This is where we accelerate healing beyond what standard care can achieve. We use biologics that promote new blood vessel formation (angiogenesis) to improve circulation and deliver growth factors that stimulate rapid tissue regeneration.
We come to you 2-3x weekly for treatment and monitoring. No infection risk from hospital/clinic visits. No stress of transportation. Consistent expert care focused on getting you prosthetic-ready.
We communicate directly with your prosthetist and physical therapist. The moment you're healed and stable, they're ready to begin the next phase. Seamless transition to prosthetic fitting.

Below-Knee Amputation • Los Angeles, CA
"After my below-knee amputation due to diabetes complications, the wound site wouldn't heal. It kept breaking open and getting infected. I was stuck in a wheelchair for months, feeling hopeless about ever walking again. My physical therapist said I couldn't even begin prosthetic fitting until the wound healed completely."
"My doctor recommended Healix360. They used stem cell therapy and specialized wound care. The specialist visited me at home twice a week. Within 4 weeks, I saw real improvement for the first time. The infection cleared and healthy tissue started growing."
"After 11 weeks total, the site was fully healed and stable. I got fitted for my prosthetic and started gait training. Now I'm walking again! They gave me my life back when I thought it was over."

Walking Independently
Comprehensive assessment, infection control, first regenerative therapy application, debridement if needed. Most patients report reduced pain and drainage within first week. Wound stabilizes and stops deteriorating.
Visible improvement as new healthy tissue forms. Wound begins closing from edges. Infection risk decreases significantly. Granulation tissue (pink healthy tissue) fills the wound base. You start to see real progress.
Most amputation sites fully close within this timeframe. Tissue strengthens and stabilizes. Once healed and weight-bearing capable, you receive medical clearance for prosthetic fitting. The gate is open—you can move forward!
At this point, we coordinate with your prosthetist for immediate scheduling. No delays—you transition directly to prosthetic evaluation and fitting.
Don't let a non-healing amputation site delay your recovery any longer. Our regenerative treatments can get you healed, prosthetic-ready, and back on the path to independence.
Why Wait Another Day?
Delaying treatment for a non-healing amputation site can lead to serious complications
Failed healing may necessitate a higher-level amputation, removing more of the limb and further limiting mobility options.
Infection can spread to the bone, requiring IV antibiotics or surgical removal of infected bone tissue.
Untreated wound infections can spread to the bloodstream, causing life-threatening sepsis requiring hospitalization.
Inability to achieve prosthetic readiness means permanent wheelchair dependency and loss of independence.
Persistent inflammation and nerve damage lead to chronic pain requiring ongoing medication management.
Extended recovery periods and loss of independence take a severe toll on mental health and quality of life.
Early Intervention is Critical
The sooner you address amputation site complications, the better your chances for complete healing and successful prosthetic fitting. Don't wait for complications to worsen.
Our mobile wound care specialists bring comprehensive treatment directly to your home, reducing infection risk and transportation stress during your recovery.
Detailed examination of the amputation site, tissue viability, infection status, circulation, and overall healing progress with digital documentation.
